Do you know the famous scene from "Psycho", where Janet Leigh is stabbed to death while taking a shower? Do you remember the piercing and discordant string chords that accompany the scene? Well, I'm going to talk about the guy who composed them. Not only that, but if you like the music of Danny Elfman, you might want to read this article too. Elfman has developed a recognizable style. Most of his scores have a dark and fantastic nature. The guy about who I'm going to talk about was a specialist in dark scores. Not surprisingly, he's known to be one of Danny Elfman's influences. Ladies and gentlemen: the great Bernard Herrmann. |

Those of you who saw "Fargo", an amazing masterpiece by the Coen brothers, must remember its memorable beginning, in which police cars appeared behind the fog and before a snowy landscape, accompanied by a beautiful melody. If you didn't see "Fargo", maybe you enjoyed the Celtic flavors of the music from "Rob Roy". "Celtic, you say?” Yes, Celtic. But you need not worry. I'm not going to talk about James Horner! |

I think every musician's personal library should cover almost every type of music. This Grammy Award winning jazz / fusion group I'm going to talk about will certainly win a spot in your above mentioned library. |
